Bullara Station, Cape Range National Park, Osprey Bay, Kurrajong, Coral Bay.

We left Tom Price and travelled to Bullara Station for a night, this was about a 600km trip so quite a long day.  Next morning we were up early and on our way to Exmouth to fuel up, fill up with water and check out the tourist info centre before heading out to the Cape Range National Park.  First stop in the park was Osprey which was a beautiful spot right on the Ningaloo Reef.  From our van window we had beautiful ocean views and the sunsets were amazing.  We spent the two days wandering the beach and driving along the coast exploring all the sights in the Cape Range National Park.  We visited Yardie Creek which had a really great walk along the creek and up into the gorge.  Great lookout overlooking Ningaloo Reef.  We also explored the many great snorkelling spots such as Torquoise Bay which was a stunning little bay, Oyster Stack, Lakeside and many others, all really beautiful but whilst we were here the weather was quite windy and cool so we didn’t actually venture into the water.  We also stayed a couple of nights in the Kurrajong camp which was also a beautiful spot with a great walk along a rocky beach, there were so many little green crabs scooting along the rocks, we spent ages just watching them.  Also along here there were quite a lot of Clams which when the tide out squirted water at us when we touched them.  We had so much fun just wandering along this beach checking out all the little creatures in the rock pools.  The camping spots had huge sites and  every campground had camp hosts which checked you in and kept an eye on the campgrounds.  A great idea.

After leaving the National Park we headed back to Exmouth where we explored the Vlamingh Head Lighthouse, the Mildura Reef wreck and the Exmouth town itself.  Exmouth itself and Coral Bay which is about 90km down the coast were both extremely busy and we were kinda glad we hadn’t stayed in these places.  We instead based ourselves for 5nights at Bullara Station which was about 90 km from Exmouth and 70km from Coral Bay.  This was a great place to stay as the sites were huge and in a bush setting.  You could even had a camp fire if you wanted.  The first night we were there they did a burger night and had live entertainment which was great.  The burgers were yummy – they did something like 300 burgers the night we were there. A great night !!!  Each night they offered a different meal, we only did the burger night.  The walks around Bullara were very beautiful as all the wildflowers were in full bloom – Beautiful 🤩

We also took a drive to Coral Bay and did a Manta Ray Eco Tour which was ok but the snorkelling part of it was not really what we were expecting as the currents running through this area are quite strong and the boat always seemed to drop us off down stream instead of upstream so you could drift – Frustrating and very tiring, but we did manage to see a few manta Rays, a dugong, a few dolphins, lots of turtles and a few Humpback whales in the distance.  Unfortunately Jeff still hasn’t mastered the Go-Pro and most of the footage he took was of the guides flippers !!!!

Great few days in the area – highly recommend a stay at Bullara Station and also Cape Range National Park – Osprey Bay and Kurrajong.

Next Stop Carnarvon……….
