So we decided to get an early start to get to Bundaberg so we could have a look around as we only had a couple of days before we had to be in Noosa.  Well that didn’t go very well, we got about 20km from Emu Bay and we started to smell and electrical burning smell coming through the air conditioner.  We stopped and checked it out and grabbed the fire extinguisher out of the van in case the Jeep was on fire.  But nothing, so we drove another few kms and smoke started to fill the cab again. After the third time we pulled up and pulled everything out of the car and found that the fuse box that runs the fridge, caravan fridge etc from the spare battery had melted.  The crazy thing was that everything was still working and nothing had tripped.  Jeff managed to get it working again (good thing he is a mechanic by trade) and we restarted our journey south.  All the way down we noticed ants crawling around the interior of the car but just thought the odd one had been bought in on something.  Little did we know and discover until later that day that we actually had a whole ant colony breeding on our back seat – so lets just say the car was quickly fumigated and the ants removed – eggs and all !!!  But it didn’t stop there (they say things happen in three’s!!)  but the air conditioner has started playing up – we’ll see how that progresses !!!

We decided to stay at Bagara Caravan Park which is about 15km from Bundaberg, quite a nice park and close enough to the centre of town to wander down to the many cafes and neighbouring beaches.  Nice area that we will need to come back and explore.  We did the main tourist stuff – Bundaberg Rum Factory, which is a fantastic tour and even better, you get to sample a few of there exclusive rums at the end of the tour – YUM !!!   We also did the Bundaberg Brewed Drinks  – The Barrel- with this tour you get to sample the many flavoured drinks and then get to pick a 6 pack of your choice to take home.  Of course Jeff couldn’t go past picking his mixed pack of 6 ginger beer combination !!!

We left Bundaberg after two nights and made our way down to Noosa, where we are staying at the Noosa Caravan Park – a G’day Park and actually located at Tewantin about 10km from the main part of Noosa.  The beaches and coastline of the area are stunning.  On the first day we did a walk through the Noosa National Park – Coastal path – wow fantastic walk through forest with fantastic views of the beautiful coastline and aqua blue waters.  We went right around to Hell’s Gate which is about a 5.5km walk.  Highly recommend this walk.

We have also done the Eumundi markets, which are about 20minutes from Noosa and the biggest markets that i reckon i have ever been to.  They take you a good couple of hours to make your way through and it is all locally made items and produce,  I would have to say it is one of the best markets i have been to and well worth a visit.

This morning we did a ride along the most beautiful beach at Noosa North Shore.  To get there you have to take a fairy ride across the Noosa River and then a drive through the National Park to the beach.  The camel rides are a truly unique experience as you ride along the most pristine beach and beautiful aqua blue waters with the friendliest camels and a fantastic guide.  The camels are very friendly and relaxed and the owner Wayne (Cuz) is very friendly and funny and makes the experience a good one.  Highly recommend a ride on Noosa Camel Rides.

Only a few more days left of our travels before we have to start heading home…..
