Barn Hill Beachside Station
We decided after 4.5 weeks in Broome it was time to move on. So many people had told us about Barn Hill that we decided to go and spend a few days. This is about 160km South of Broome and a 7km dirt road into the station. We decided to do the unpowered sites as these were right on the cliffs overlooking the beautiful white beaches. The sites are huge and although we didn’t have power we did have access to water. The day we got here the weather was stunning and warm about 28degrees. We spent most of our time here walking the beautiful white beaches and we couldn’t get over the spectacular red cliffs right along the beach. We did a few walks where you had to wait for the tides to go out so you could get around the headlands but it was so worthwhile as you would be walking on beaches that had no other footprints but your own. An amazing experience!!!
We met quite a few people that we had met along the way staying here at the same time so we had a few nights of catching up and having a few drinks and playing a few bowling games. Good fun and great people – we even had Jeff’s birthday here at Barn Hill, where we and three other couples ordered pizzas from the little cafe in the park. A fun night had by all !!!
Whilst we were here we had a large amount of rain – which apparently that and the wind and the cooler weather is very unseasonal !! Our drive in had been on dusty roads but our drive out was definitely on partially flooded roads. The bowling green which is quite popular in Barn Hill was turned into a swimming pool !! The weather after our first day turned from 28degrees to the low 20’s and the overnight temperatures were very cool and the wind didn’t stop blowing for 3 of the 5 nights we were there. Unseasonal they said – but still it is a beautiful place to spend a few days !! Great Vanilla Slices and pizzas made here – Delicious
We enjoyed our time here at Barn Hill having done 5 nights. Great place to swim, fish and relax but time to move on again…….
Next stop 80 Mile Beach…..
